Speech-to-Speech (STS )
1-800-842-5177

Speech-to-Speech (STS) allows speech-disabled persons to voice their conversation. A specially trained Relay Connecticut Operator will listen and repeat the speech-disabled user's dialogue to the called party. Sprint's unparalleled equipment and exceptional STS agent training ensure that speech-disabled users will be heard and understood. You do not need special equipment to use this service.

  1. Dial relay STS number.
  2. You will hear “Connecticut Speech-to-Speech operator (number). May I have the number you are calling to please?”
  3. Voice the area code and telephone number of the party you want to call.
  4. The relay operator will say “Voice Now” to you as your cue to speak directly to your party. The relay operator will revoice what you have said if the called party does not understand you. There maybe instances where you will be asked to repeat your message to ensure that it is conveyed correctly.
  5. Remember to say “Go Ahead” when you are ready for the other person to respond.
  6. STS User talks his conversation to both Relay Operator and Voice Caller.
  7. Relay Operator then "re-voices" STS User's message to Voice Caller.
  8. Voice Caller talked directly back to STS User.
