HOW TO GET A CAPTEL?
To apply for a CapTel telephone
through the TTY Loan Program
Connecticut residents may be eligible to receive a CapTel telephone at no cost through the TTY Loan Program through Converse Communications. The purpose of Converse Communications is to help people with disabilities receive specialized equipment they need in order to use basic telephone services.
Anyone who meets the following criteria can apply:
Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing persons who find it difficult to use a telephone or amplified telephone. (Hard-of Hearing persons must have tried an amplifier.)
Full-time Connecticut residents
Must have a Connecticut telephone number
First-time CapTel loan applicants
Must be 8 years old or older
(Parent consent is required for those under 18 years old.)
No income restrictions
